Nature of this site
StateSalary is an informational reference that summarises public federal statistics. It is produced independently and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised to speak for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the U.S. Census Bureau, or any other government agency.
Not advice
Wage figures on this site describe reported pay in a specific statistical release. They do not describe what you will be paid, what you should be paid, what a given employer can afford, or what a role is worth in any particular labour market. Do not use the site as the sole input to a salary negotiation, job acceptance, relocation, lawsuit, or visa application.
Data accuracy and limitations
- Some occupation-by-state combinations are suppressed by BLS when employment or response counts are too low. Where a figure is missing, we show an em dash rather than estimating.
- OEWS counts wage and salary workers only, not self-employed workers. An occupation’s true pay distribution can differ materially from the OEWS figure for that reason.
- “Mean” and “median” wages answer different questions. See the methodology.
- Figures are revised between releases. We republish on the most recent vintage we have processed; prior vintages are not retained on the site.
